Statements

  1. … they are doing something that is going to increase the debt enormously. It’s going to be a job-killer and it’s going to raise taxes on the middle-class, and that has a big impact on the individual lives of all Americans, and really we should be spending more time on that.

    Claims

The GOP Tax Plan Is a "Job-Killer"
It would likely result in a modest increase in the number of jobs

    Fact Checks

    • Pelosi’s speculation about the tax plan being a “job-killer” is just that, speculation. But most economic analyses to date suggest that while there will be winners and losers in the labor force, the net effect on the number of jobs will be small, but positive.
  2. The tax cuts in the bill – 80 percent of the tax cuts in the bill benefit the top 1 percent in our country. $2.6 trillion in tax cuts go to corporate America. Around $475 million – excuse me, $475 billion in tax increases go to Middle America. … So, again, it raises taxes on middle class, cuts the tax of the wealthiest, adds trillions to the deficit.

    Claims

GOP Tax Plan Would Raise Taxes on the Middle Class by $470 Billion
More people would see a cut than an increase.

Nancy Pelosi has made this claim at least 2 times, from 2017-10-05 thru 2017-10-05.

    Fact Checks

    • In other words, while some in what Pelosi considers the “middle class” would see a tax increase, according to the TPC analysis of the GOP framework, more in that same group would see a tax cut.
  3. Where do the tax cuts go? $2.6 trillion to corporate America and guess what happens to the middle class? $470 billion in tax increases to the middle class, about a half a trillion dollars in increases to the middle class, $2.5 trillion in tax cuts to corporate America.

  4. It is quite remarkable. In fact, since you are asking more about it, it is a masterful work on the part of President Obama to bring the P-5, Russia, China, into the fold. They have never voted with us in the U.N. on any sanctions on Iran in the past. So from a diplomatic standpoint to get us to this place was masterful.
